uCentum PRO system expansion for uCentum & uBase: even more MIS options for precise, patient-friendly spinal procedures

With the successful market launch of uCentum Pro, ulrich medical has expanded the uCentum and uBase systems with new modular implant and instrument options. The goal is higher intraoperative flexibility, even better adaptation to individual anatomy, and lower invasiveness.

The key innovations of the uCentum PRO MIS and navigation modules at a glance:
The polyaxial and pre-fixation MIS X-Tab screws permit percutaneous approaches with small incisions and thus an instrumentation causing minimal damage to the surrounding soft tissues. An extensive (Brainlab-compatible) navigation module supports both open and percutaneous procedures and can contribute to precise screw positioning with reduced exposure to radiation at the same time. As an alternative to rods with a diameter of 6.0 mm, there are now also rods with a diameter of 5.5 mm available. Both versions are fully compatible with all screw options. There is also an additional pre-angled screw head with 48° polyaxiality available for the uBase pelvic screw fixation that can be employed in both open and percutaneous procedures.
“The expansions turn uCentum and uBase into a modular, highly flexible system for the differentiated treatment of complex spinal pathologies with the goal of ensuring minimal invasiveness for patients in combination with maximal user-friendliness,” explained Friedrich von Rechteren, CEO of ulrich medical.

The development team at ulrich medical focused on users’ requirements and needs at all times when expanding the system. Prof. Dr. Joachim Oertel, Director of the Neurosurgery Clinic at Saarland University in Homburg, confirmed their success thus: “uCentum PRO combines all the advantages expected of a minimally invasive system for stabilization of the thoracolumbar spine: extremely slim, contemporary design, reliable, established implants, and outstanding possibilities for connection to iliosacral and cervical instruments. All in all, it is a successful new concept for minimally invasive spinal surgery – with practically limitless possibilities.”
Following its successful launch on the German market last year, the system is now being rolled out internationally.
