Do you prefer dorsal, ventral or lateral approach? obelisc vertebral body replacements mean you can choose which approach you prefer. Minimally invasive techniques can be used to operate as gently as possible on the patient.
The large variability in the products ensures that the right vertebral body replacement in terms of size and angle can be found. The different end plates (round, oval, rectangular) featuring teeth on the surface provide the greatest possible supporting surface. This enables the stable positioning of the implant.
The vertebral body replacement can be expanded continually in situ, which means that obelisc’s height can be adjusted to suit the patient.
While overly complicated sets of instruments may make a product more challenging to use, obelisc only consists of one tray. Implantation, expansion and securing is all done using just one instrument.
The choice is yours: do you prefer to operate from a ventral, dorsal or lateral approach? obelisc makes all options possible. It can also be used in minimally invasive surgery for the low impact on the patient.
With a large range of heights, angulations, and various end pieces, the obelisc vertebral body replacement impresses with its flexibility for customization. It is able to bridge a single to multisegmental defect height of up to 132 mm. The teeth on the end pieces facilitate an improved grip in the end plates.
obelisc can be implanted, expanded and secured using just one instrument. The expansion is carried out continuously in situ.
Its single tray of instruments makes obelisc easier to use, resulting in fast learning effects. Its color-coded end pieces also facilitate convenient, seamless handling.
All implants are available sterile and non-sterile. They can be ordered directly as required.
Center pieces
The center pieces have a diameter of 20 mm and their expansion widths extend from 17 mm to 132 mm. With the exception of the smallest (two fixed assembled end pieces) and second smallest (one fixed assembled end piece and one variable end piece) center pieces, two individually selected end pieces are assembled on the center piece for stable locking in the spine. It is possible to choose between the various end pieces as required for the best anatomical fit for your patient. The height is adjusted in situ and is then fixed with a locking screw.
End pieces and angulations
When using the obelisc vertebral body replacement, you can choose between round, oval, and lateral end pieces.
The round end pieces are available with diameters of 20 mm to 32 mm.
The lateral end pieces are available in the lengths 35 mm, 45 mm, and 55 mm, and each is 20 mm wide. The various sizes can be easily identified via color coding.
The additional angulations of the end pieces – 0°, 5°, 10°, and 15° (lateral end pieces also in 20°) – provide for further customization options for your patient.
The straightforward set of instruments makes for easy handling, resulting in fast learning effects during use. All of the standard instruments required are arranged on just one layer. Just one instrument is required for implantation, expansion, and securing during surgery.
