International spine surgery meets at ulrich medical

From May 13 to 15, ulrich medical welcomed spine surgery specialists from four continents to the 11th Spine Academy Meeting. A total of 40 surgeons and 17 speakers took part in this CME-certified scientific exchange and received advanced training in modern surgical techniques.

This year's focus was on the presentation and discussion of modern treatment approaches that are used worldwide. Each of the three days focused on a different topic along the spinal anatomy.

The opening session, moderated by Prof. Dr. Joachim Oertel, Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Saarland University Hospital in Homburg/Saar, evaluated strategies for fusion of the cervical spine from the occiput to the upper thoracic vertebrae. Optimized thoracolumbosacral and iliosacral treatment was the focus on the following day, led by Prof. Dr. Marcus Richter, Chief Physician of the Spine Centre at St. Josefs-Hospital Wiesbaden. Prof. Dr. Ehab Shiban, Head of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Lausitz - Carl Thiem in Cottbus, and his colleagues focused on the topics of “Optimized treatment of the degenerative spine” and “Revisions, complication management and lessons learned” on the final day.

"The Spine Academy Meeting in Ulm is a model of success for all participants and is characterized by a high level of medical expertise. This makes it a sought-after platform among spinal surgery experts," explains Friedrich von Rechteren, CEO of ulrich medical.
