Case study: uCentumTM

Percutaneous repositioning and posterior stabilization T5/6 to T8/9 with cement-augmented screws

Dr. med. Janosch Burkhardt, Senior Physician, Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, Robert Bosch Hospital, Stuttgart (Created in 2016)

Postoperative follow-up X-ray and clearly visible reconstruction of the vertebral body height and alignment of the kyphosis

Symptoms
After a fall, the 78-year-old female patient presented to our hospital in a significantly reduced overall condition. She complained of massive pain in the thoracic spinal region without any neurological deficits.

Diagnosis
After taking conventional X-rays which revealed the visible T7 fractures, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the thoracic spine were performed for further assessment. Taking all of the diagnostic measures into consideration, an unstable fracture of T7 with involvement of the pedicle as well as of the posterior edge and a tear of the interspinous ligament, B2 type according to AO, were diagnosed.

You will find the therapy used, including preoperative imaging, in our case study for download.
